Description
FOCUS:
Supply chain process improvements and support.  Position may cover areas in manufacturing or distribution such as demand planning, resource planning, purchased material planning, scheduling, material flow, information flow, inventory management, and/or transportation planning.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams having explicit objectives and scope; lead kaizen events
  • Propose, implement and support business tool and process enhancements
  • Perform data analyses to support recommendations
  • Ensure new processes integrate with existing processes
  • Train customers on new and modified processes
 
POTENTIAL PROJECTS:
  • Utilize lean tools to lead and direct continuous improvement activities
  • Define problems, collect and analyze data
  • Recommend and implement effective solutions
  • Improve material or information flow within a plant or distribution center
  • Lead Time Improvements
  • Raw or finished goods inventory Management
  • Transportation process improvements
  • Metrics programs for internal or external suppliers

 

DETAILS
12 week program (late May – mid August) providing exposure to Andersen Corporation through the following activities and events
 
  • Orientation
    • Introduction and overview of Andersen
    • Networking with leadership
    • Bayport plant tour
  • Project Work
    • Intern Manger & Mentor will assign a project to be completed by end of internship
    • Collaboration to meet project needs
    • Real, meaningful work
    • Each intern owns their project
  • Development Opportunities
    • Each intern is assigned a Manager & a Mentor
    • Roundtable conversations with leadership
    • Meet & greets
    • Tours of other facilities – including suppliers
    • Volunteer events
    • Formal review process – mid-summer and end-of-summer feedback
  • Intern Networking Activities
    • Social events
    • Intern newsletter committee
    • Andersen’s Young Professionals Network (AYPN)
  • Final Presentation
    • Each intern will have the opportunity to formally present his/her project and accomplishments
    • Held during the final week of the program
    • Audience includes the Executive Leadership team
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Working towards a degree in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, or similar
  • Should be familiar with Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools
  • Requires concise and professional written communication used in a business setting
  • Requires proven presentation skills
  • Requires solid decision making skills to analyze, prioritize, and anticipate issues
  • Requires ability to perform mathematical analyses & make data-based recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, gather data, and offer solutions.
  • 3.0 or above GPA
  • Authorized to work in the US
