Extrusion Operator - (21291)

Purpose: To operate extruder machines and auxiliary equipment and produce extruded PVC material that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
This is a 1st shift postion
Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
  • Able to accurately document and account for profiles
  • Maintain department 6s standards
  • Follow all safety standards/procedures including proper use of PPE
  • Proper use and understanding of measuring instruments such as tape measures and calipers and gauges
  • Able to read and interpret profile prints
  • Possess general knowledge of tooling and ability to properly clean and maintain calibration systems
  • Able to maintain machine running conditions and is familiar with all machine controls (extruder, & downstream)
  • Ability to identify visual surface defects (i.e., sink lines, voids, contamination, etc.) and make good judgment calls on part quality
  • General knowledge of woolpile weather stripping, insertion machines, and ability to achieve proper installation
  • Produce a part that meets criteria of 1st piece inspection
  • Proper completion of 1st Piece Inspection Report as well as QC Check Sheets
  • Must take a hands on role in problem solving
  • Ability to set-up, start-up and produce different profiles that meet quality requirements
  • May assist Foreman in decision making process and cover in absence
  • Leadership responsibility
  • Production responsibility for multiple lines
Qualification and Skills required:
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Must be able to lift and pack at least 50 pounds
  • Proper use and understanding of measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers and gauges
  • Must possess good communication skills
  • Must be able to work with all levels of management
  • Must have strong can-do attitude with a commitment to service
